We have officially been in Japan for one month and I have some very important wisdom to share with my clients! Clothing companies and boutiques that ship to APO! 🎉
There are lots of lists out there for general companies that ship to APO addresses, but I wanted a list that I can share with my clients when we are crafting their session with me. As a 6’0″ tall person myself, I get that just hopping onto the Japanese economy to find an outfit isn’t exactly easy (haven’t found the Godzilla store yet). I will compile the few American stores I have found close to our base at Yokota as google pins in another post however! There are TONS of fabulous Japanese clothing stores too of course, but if you are more comfortable shopping American stores and sizes online, read on.
These are not all affiliate links but are all places I have either ordered from or researched for you! I am an Amazon affiliate however (see disclosure at end of blog post). I would also like to add that you should consider becoming a member of a cash back site like ebates or honey now that you live overseas and will likely do tons of online shopping! Big Retailers
- Oldnavy/Gap/Banana – particularly a favorite of mine for the tall sections!
- Madewell – another favorite of mine for pants. Their shipping is sort of hit or miss. Sometimes it is fast and sometimes not. I have also learned I can’t use coupon codes because it detects I am in Japan, but their customer service is great about retroactively adding them to orders if you contact them.
- Amazon – Let’s be real, the post office here is basically an Amazon distribution center, and we thank the man upstairs for it everyday. Most clothing that is prime will ship to Amazon, but your cart will quickly tell you if the item does not. The link will send you to my favorite chiffon skirt for photoshoots! 😍
- Target – You can filter by items that are available to APO.
- PinkBlush – Surprisingly ships here SUPER fast (as in like 5-7 days). Carries tall and maternity styles too.
- ASOS – Tall girls jump for joy, I LOVE the tall section at ASOS!
- Lulus – Ships to APO for $5, tons of affordable dresses for photo sessions.
- Macy’s
- Nordstrom’s – Nordstrom’s will ship to APO but unfortunately Nordstroms Rack will not. 👎
- J. Crew
- ModCloth – Free to APO with orders over $75.
- Loft/Ann Taylor
- Zappos – Often Zappos items are listed on Amazon but they do ship to APO regardless. I have yet to see larger shoes sizes on the economy if you’ve got big thumpers like me you’ll shopping online for shoes!
- American Eagle – AE and Aerie claim that they do ship to APO and I had a friend get it to work, but I tried once and could not, even after chatting. My theory is that I was logged into my shop runner two-day shipping and that is why?
- Kohls
- H&M – There are also actual H&M’s here in Japan!
- Lands End
- L.L. Bean – I recently ordered some Bean Boots and they do not update the tracking but it you chat with a customer service agenct they can check where your order is. Mine took over three weeks but it was around the holidays!
- Eddie Bauer
- Sierra Trading Post – My mom is actually at an APO AE address and ordered boots from Sierra Trading Post which too about a month to arrive.
- Torrid
- Zulilly – If you really aren’t in a rush! Normal APO rules apply such as no bulky/heavy items.
- Forever21 – starts at $10.90 to ship to APO.
Online Boutiques

- Newport Edge – This is owned by one of my dearest friends. It’s a little bit or classy, casual, and edgy all mixed together. I wear them often in my own family photo sessions!
- Jane.com – Pulls deals from other boutique stores! Make sure you have lots of time for shipping, minimum $13 shipping charge to APO addresses.

- Lululemon – Heads up, can take up to 45 days! I ordered a pair of Align leggings on Dec 11 and they are estimated to arrive Feb 5! We all know it’s worth the wait though. Can’t use your mil discount but there is no tax to APO! Sometimes the shipping is super fast. They have a weird system.

- Nike – Says it will take 30-45 days, I got shoes in a week!
