Fall 2020 Photo Session Outfit Guide

It’s officially Fall!

Even though it is still hot! I wanted to get my fall photo outfit guide out there because I know many of you will be taking your fall family photos soon! Use these as inspiration as you plan your outfits. Work within your closet and see what you have that fits these ideas/colors. I think it is great to actually show up to photos wearing clothes you already own and love! There is no need to buy all new clothing just for a photo session. 😊

See all of my basic tips outfit prep here. The most important thing is that you feel really comfortable in what you are wearing so you can enjoy your session! For fall, consider layering with stockings, sweaters, cardigans, and jackets that can be removed during the session if you get too warm. It is not fun to be photographed when you are cold, or hot!

Below you will see two color palettes with a variety of suggested pieces. Links to the pieces are listed below the image. I linked some extra options there, too! None of these are affiliate links or sponsored in any way and the individual clothing images do not belong to me–I just collaged them! Sources are linked below each photo if you are interested.

Fall Photo Outfit Palette #1

I went for grassy, neutral colors for this pallet. This is probably the palette I would put my own family in for fall photos. If you live somewhere where it is still warm in the fall, you won’t need to layer some of these pieces. I love the idea of these fabrics with all the crunchy textures of fall. I am picturing a big dry, grassy field or coastline! That dress featured actually has some mustard in it too, so you could interchange some of the pieces from the next palette into this one if you need more color in your life! 😊

Fall Photo Outfit Palette #2

Okay I have to admit that darker tones are out of my typical wheelhouse, but I think these feel natural enough to really blend with those fall colors we all dream of! Think anything the color of fall leaves and warm grass and you’ll be set for a photo session full of rich colors. There are tons of fall options in this palette and I bet you would be surprised what you already own in these colors and patterns! After I made the burgundy version I thought it would be really pretty to add a teal/evergreen color instead. So, you get that, too! 😂  I always prefer blues and greens, so that’s my preferred option for fall out of the two colorful ones. 😊 I would probably add a long cardigan to mom’s dress in the evergreen option.
