Seafoam Gender Neutral Nursery Reveal

Hey Expecting Mamas!

Congratulations! πŸ’– If you are a first time mom, you are about to fall HEAD OVER HEELS in love, in a way you have never known before. Life will take on a whole new meaning. I am excited you came to check out this seafoam gender neutral nursery design! Since I have you here, I want to make sure you know that I teach photography to moms! I have been teaching for almost a decade and have lots of free resources on this blog for how to take better photos (both with your phone and fancy camera). Plus I have workshops and a signature course, Manual Mode for Moms. I hope that you will be inspired and able to take gorgeous photos of your family with these resources!

The Reveal

Back when I posted Emme’s Neutral Nursery plan I promised to post a follow-up reveal of how it all turned out… Well, Emme came 10 days early on Labor day and time totally escaped me! I had some time to whip this post up now that she is here and we are settling into our new routine.

It is my favorite room of the house. I love spending time with her in there, especially when the sun is out and flooding the room. I don’t even mind the hideous brown felt “carpet” in there anymore. The wall was supposed to be painted Sherwin Williams “sea salt” which I have had in a previous house. In this room it looked waaay to purple and blue. To achieve more of the seafoam green I was hoping for I mixed in some yellow interior paint.

I included links below each image in case you are a curious expecting mama or just curious. Please note this post contains amazon affiliate links because I am an amazon affiliate (see full Amazon Affiliate disclosure at end of blog post). The rest of the links are not affiliate links.

The big stuff

Most of the larger items are from IKEA because we are living in Japan. IKEA is easily accessible for us. Some of the items are repurposed from other areas of the house. Each photo has links underneath for what is pictured. If it says “similar” I already had it and it’s probably from TJmaxx or it is thrifted!

The Closet

So we had to take the doors off of Emme’s closet to fit this giant IKEA cube piece in there. It required my upstairs neighbor sending her husband down to help me one day πŸ˜‚(Thanks Gene and Jennifer!). I also took down the big silver closet rod that was in there so I had room to put things on top of the cube. Tension rods are holding up the the clothes!

I found the storage piece in the basement of our apartment building in the “free stuff” area, all taken apart and missing some screws. You can go to the IKEA customer service area and they have an entire wall of extra screws and things labeled by part number! I just looked up the instructions to this piece to get the correct part number and grabbed a few for free!

I mean you can’t have an art teacher for a mom and not have your books organized in ROYGBIV order right? πŸ˜‚ She’s running out of room because I am obsessed with reading her books. We read before every nap and as part of her bedtime routine. And basically any other time I am bored. πŸ˜‚ So I have a seasonal book box above closet for when she is actually out of room. I plan to rotate books by season/holiday/mood pretty frequently. There are three acrylic shelves at toddler height on the skinny wall to the left of this not pictured.

Probably should have organized the stuffed animal basket before I took this but oh well. It’s not as many as it looks, I swear! πŸ˜‚The golden retriever plush takes up most of the room. 😬 My mom made a bunch of crib sheets for me when she visited using fabrics I ordered from Joanns. The crib was purchased in Japan and standard crib sheets are too large for the mattress.

I tore these out of their frames and build my own to match the aesthetic of the room. I am glad I did! You should have seen me with my circular saw on my apartment balcony though. We brought limited tools knowing we would probably be in an apartment. Good times.

I think she likes her room. πŸ˜‰ I hope she likes it as much as I do!
